About

Meet Your Teacher

Hi, my name is Rocco! I’ve dedicated my life to helping others discover the joy of language. I teach Spanish, Italian, English for non-native speakers, French, and Latin to students of all ages and backgrounds. My experience spans junior high and high school classrooms, as well as college-level instruction at NYU, BMCC, and LaGuardia.

My teaching philosophy is rooted in connection and confidence. I believe students learn best when they’re encouraged to speak freely, make mistakes, and engage with the language in real-life situations. Whether we’re walking, chatting at a café, or shopping in a local market, I aim to bring the language to life—far beyond the classroom.

Outside of teaching, I’m a passionate writer. I enjoy writing poetry, short stories, and novels, and I’ve authored an Italian grammar book to support learners in building a strong foundation. I also find joy in staying active—biking, playing tennis, running, and kayaking help keep my mind clear and creativity flowing. These moments outside the classroom often inspire new teaching ideas and give me fresh ways to connect language learning to real life. For me, teaching isn’t just a job—it’s an extension of how I live, learn, and explore the world every day.

How It All Started

It all began with a deep love of language—a fascination with its beauty, rhythm, and power to bring people together. That love grew from a strong connection to my country and culture, and a desire to share it with others. Over time, that passion evolved into a true devotion to my students. Teaching became more than a profession—it became a way to help others find their voice in a new language and open themselves up to new possibilities.
